Environmental Policy
As an organisation that cares about animals of all types, we are acutely aware of the environmental impact that we, as a society, are having on the world.
Our practice is dedicated to reducing and minimising the amount of waste we produce, the nature of the waste and how it needs to be disposed of.
At the same time, it is necessary for us to remain dedicated to high standards of disease and infection control whilst also adhering to the rules and regulations associated with our business.
Unfortunately, it would be impossible for us to eliminate all plastic packaging as we are obliged to use some items that come pre-packaged and are for single use only. Where we can replace these items with re-usable ones, we will do so.
With time we are gradually eliminating some known environmental contaminants such as ensuring our cotton buds have paper sticks, not plastic; gradually replacing our dispensing enveloped and plastic bags with paper and card; stripping all waste down to its constituent parts and recycling as much as possible.
Most of our clinical waste is incinerated at very high temperature by commercial waste companies. They have their own set of environmental regulations to adhere to.
We will introduce new changes as we learn more about where we can make them.
